13 weeks and a wave

The moment between having warm goo squirted onto my bump and the moment the sonographer brought the handheld doodah* into contact with my skin seemed to last an eternity. I held my breath waiting to see what was really in there. Would it be twins or triplets as MIL had, not very helpfully, speculated? Maybe a phantom pregnancy with nothing there at all?

What was actually there was one, very wriggly baby which left me with a big grin on my face. The sonographer thinks I'm slightly further along than I thought which makes me due at the beginning of May. Suddenly it all seems very real.

*I think the technical term is transducer, but don't quote me on that
