Easy peasy Jubilee ice cream

This red, white and blue ice cream is so easy to make. I chose a simple ice cream base from the Ben and Jerry's recipe book – you can find the recipe here (I downsized the ingredients because I was using a 300ml tub of whipping cream, this yielded about 1 litre of ice cream).

Tip about 3/4 of a bag of limited edition red, white and blue M&Ms (yes, that quintessentially British brand *ahem*) into a polythene bag and bash with a rolling pin, just enough to break them apart and avoid any choking hazards. Once the ice cream has been churned but is still soft, mix in the crushed M&Ms and put in the freezer. The colour from the M&M shells leaves lovely streaks of red and blue in the ice cream and it tastes yummy.

To be honest you don't even need to make your own ice cream, just stir the M&Ms into a soft scoop ice cream.

Sorry I don't have a better photo of the finished item, it got eaten very quickly :)
